Yes...ha ha...I'm sew punny funny.
This past summer the ever wonderful MIL bought me a sewing machine. I have been doing little things here and there, but nothing crazy or big - and definitely not often enough (the room that will eventually house my sewing machine along with all of my other craft stuff is currently occupied by my office supplies and spare parts from work) hopefully soon I will be able to give this room a complete overhaul. Anyway moral of the story, I have to schlep my machine all over the house to find a spot to use it and I just don't have the energy some days.....well....anyway....the point of this is the pictures right?!
Meet birdie #1
I fell in love with the fabric as I wandered around Jo-Ann's and just had to make a birdie with it

Very creative. Who would have thought to make a bird?
ReplyDeleteI like the image of schlepping the sewing machine.
wow - love the fabric - very crafty!
ReplyDeleteI like that fabric too! is that the one you were talking about finding at Joann's? I saw that tutorial too and was thinking of trying it this weekend. :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the fabric! Nice bird!
ReplyDeleteI think it is awesome. Very cool print on the fabric. Are you going to make bigger things?
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I am working on creating a pattern for an elephant today...see how that goes...
ReplyDeleteThat looks good, Liz. This is one thing I get to look forward to when we get to the new house, no more schlepping the sewing machine in and out of Owen's closet :0). I hope it won't take too long for you to have a crafty area where you can just leave it.
ReplyDeleteThe bird is so cute! Nice blog. I'll be back to explore later! Your son and mine are around the same age.
ReplyDeleteGo you! I just started learning how to use a sewing machine. My husband is so much better than I. You did a great job and I LOVE the fabric too.
ReplyDeleteHow cute. Are you going to sew some little bead eyes on the birdie? I think they would add a nice touch to your cute project!
ReplyDeleteImpressive! We need to talk sewing . . . are you self taught? Have you taken classes? I can't believe we didn't chat more about this when we went out!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable!! My MIL bought me a sewing machine, and I still have yet to use it. Perhaps you will inspire me. ;)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I tagged you in photo tag!
Tweet, tweet! That is so cute. I have a cute little easy sewing project you might enjoy. It's making a tooth shaped pillow for the tooth fairy visits.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link on my page where I showed one I made: http://michelle-onecraftymama.blogspot.com/2008/04/crafting.html
There is not much that impresses me more than cool home-made stuff like that! Probably because I love that sort of thing, but have NO idea how to make it. Did you use a pattern or are you one of those crafty people who makes things up as you go?? I have a machine. I told my MIL that I wanted her to teach me how to make a tote this Christmas while we are visiting - it's a start anyway!! Great work!
ReplyDeleteVery creative little birdie! Cool fabric too.
ReplyDeleteI am sooo jealous of your sewing skills! As I've told you before, I can't sew...at all...not one stitch! Thank goodness for glue and duct tape! (and a friend who does all of my mending and sewing for me!) lol
